Tutorial Text
In this tutorial we will change the layout settings for our content items. There are several controls built in to Mambo, that you can control site-wide and also at the individual content item level. It is very flexible.
Begin by navigating to Site >> Global Configuration.
Select the Content tab.
There are a bunch of options that will help you control the output of your content. A short description of each follows.
Linked Titles. This will control if the titles on your frontpage articles are links or simply articles. Helpful if you would rather not have the Read More... links.
Read More Link. Choose if you would like to have the Read More... link at the end of content items that have both introtext and fulltext filled out.
Item Rating/Voting. Allows your users to rate your content and shows it. Uses a 5 star scale.
Author Names. Shows the name of the person who wrote the article. If you have the Author Alias field filled out it will show that value.
Created Date and Time. Shows the time and date the content item was created.
Modified Date and Time. Shows the date and time the content item was last modified. Will only show when an item has been modified at least one time.
Hits. Shows the number of hits the content item has gotten. Hits are only counted when an individual item is viewed, not when viewed on the frontpage.
PDF Icon. Allow your users to create a PDF version of your content items.
Print Icon. Allows your users to create a printer-friendly version of your content item.
Email Icon. Allow your users to email a content item to their friends.
Icons. Do you want to use icons for the PDF, Print and Email selections. Will show text version if No is selected.
Table of Contents on multi-page items. Will show a table of contents on mutli-page items.
Back Button. Will show a back button at the bottom of all of your pages.
Content Item Navigation. Show <Prev and Next> links on content items. Goes between content items in the same content category.
For this tutorial we will hide Author Names, Created Date and Time, Modified Date and Time, Hits and Icons. To apply these settings, click the Save button in the toolbar.
We can see our setting have been applied. The author name and created date have been removed.
