• In this tutorial we will be changing the layout of the frontpage in Mambo. Using this method you can control just about anything on your frontpage.
• Navigate to Menu >> Main Menu.
• Now we need to edit the Home item. You can either click on the item or check the checkbox next to it and click Edit in the toolbar.
• If you move your mouse over any of the blue "i" icons you will get a popup screen with information on what that specific item controls.
• Since every item has a tooltip, we will not be covering what each item does, but simulating a typical change you may want to make.
• The first thing we will do is set it to show the Page Title. Your page title is defined on the line directly above this one.
• We will set # Leading to 2, # Intro to 4, Columns to 1 and # Links to 6.
• That has set it so that there will be 2 leading stories (only applicable if you have more than 1 column), 4 stories will show the intro text, there will only be a 1 column layout, and there will be 6 items that only have a link to them, they will not show any text.
• We will leave Category Order set to No, order by Primary Order only. If you would like to have your frontpage divided by category, you can set that here.
• We will set Primary Order to Most Recent First. If you would like to leave it at Frontpage Ordering, you can set the order by clicking the Frontpage Manager icon at the home screen of the administrator.
• The only setting we are going to change here is to set the Category Name to Show.
• Save the item for the changes to take effect.
• This is how our page looked before we made the changes. Now let's refresh the page
• We can now see that our changes have taken effect
