Tutorial Text

  • In this tutorial we will be adding a content item to the site and making it show on the frontpage.
  • Begin by navigating to Content -> All Content Items
  • Click the New button in the toolbar to add a content item.
  • Enter a name for your content item. You can also select the section and category if they are not correct.
  • Now we will enter the intro text for our content item. This is the text that will show on the frontpage.
  • Now type out the full text. This will only show when viewing this content item as a single item.
  • On this pane you can control all of the publishing information for this story. You can:
     - Set it to show on the frontpage
    - Publish/unpublish it
    - Set the access level
    - Create an alias name for the author
    - Change the creator of the article (helpful if you want people to be able to edit their own items)
    - Change the ordering of the item; change the created date
    - Set the date the item should become published
-Set a date to end publishing it.
  • To get this story to appear on the frontpage, check this box.
  • We are going to add an image to the story so click the Images tab.
  • Let's add the opensource-110x95.png image.
  • After you select the image click Add.
  • Let's change some settings for this image.
  • First select the image
  • Let's set an align value for it.
  • To apply our change, you will need to click the Apply button.
  • Now that we added an image, we will have to tell Mambo to look for it by calling the mambot.
  • On the Parameters tab you can set a huge number of options for how you want this particular article to look. If you roll your mouse over the "i" symbol next to any selection you can learn more about what that selection does.
  • On the Meta Info tab you can set a description and keywords for your article. This will help with search engine rankings.
  • On the Link to Menu tab you can link your article directly to any of your menus without leaving your content area. Simply select the menu to link it to and the name you want to use.
  • To create the content item click the Save button in the toolbar.
  • Now if you look at your home page you will see your new content item.
