Install Joomla with cPanel E-mail
This tutorial will show you how to install Joomla using cPanel.

  • In this tutorial we will be installing Joomla using cPanel and the cPanel file manager.
  • Begin by uploading the Joomla tar.gz file to your website.
  • Browse to the file on your harddrive.
  • Double click the file to upload.
  • Click Upload to upload the file.
  • You can now see your file has been uploaded
  • Click the file name to see a list of options for the file.
  • We want to extract the file.
  • A new window will open verifying the extracted files.
  • Now point your browser to the site/folder you have uploaded Joomla to.
  • Check the settings for your files on this page. The most important is to make sure all of the appropriate files/folders are writable.
  • If you make changes to your settings click Check Again to refresh the page. When you are ready to install click Next.
  • This page has a copy of the GPL license. Click Next to continue.
  • On this page we will input the database settings. We need to go back to cPanel to create the database.
  • Click Manage MySQL to create the database
  • Type the database name and click Add Db.
  • You database has been created. Click Go Back to create the database user.
  • Enter the username and password and click Add User.
  • Your database user has been created. Click Go Back to associate the user with the database.
  • Select the appropriate user and database and click Add User to Db.
  • The user can now access the database. We can now switch back to the Joomla installer.
  • Enter the database info you just created.
  • You can change any database import setting you need now.
  • Click Next to continue the installation.
  • Click OK to confirm your database settings.
  • Enter a name for your site.
  • Click Next to continue the installation
  • Enter your email address and the password you want. Joomla creates a default password automatically.
  • If you want to change the permissions settings you can do that here.
  • Click Next to continue the installation.
  • Joomla has now been installed. We need to go back to the file manager to delete the installation folder.
  • Click the installation folder.
  • Delete the folder.
  • The folder has now been deleted. We can switch back to Joomla.
  • Click View Site to see your newly installed site.
  • Here is your newly installed Joomla site.
